In Belize, farm-to-table is king—and it always has been. It’s one of the many reasons why this tiny nation is hailed as a giant in all things sustainability. And at Chan Chich Lodge, things are no different. From sunup to sundown, our guests are able to enjoy delectable meals that not only delight the palate but also support the local community while underscoring our commitment to preserving our environment.

About the Farm

Thanks to our 3,000 acre farm, Gallon Jug Farm, we have access to an abundance of fresh, seasonal ingredients grown right here on the estate. This working farm is home to free-range cattle, laying hens, a coffee plantation, and expansive organic gardens. Here, the journey from soil to plate is measured in minutes, rather than miles, and our repeat guests love us for it!

Everything at Gallon Jug Farm is cultivated with care and respect for the land. We use sustainable practices that ensure long-term health for both the environment and the people who depend on it.

Fuel Up Before Your Adventures

Whether for breakfast, lunch, or dinner, our onsite restaurant—The Looter’s Trench—is always serving up memorable meals inspired by all things Belizean culture. Start your day with tropical fruits and farm-fresh eggs, savor a grass-fed beef burger at lunch, or wind down in the evening with hearty stews, homemade bread, and garden-fresh salads.

Our menus change regularly to reflect what’s available and in season. Plus, our culinary team takes pride in crafting each dish with the same care that went into growing it. And yes—our jungle dining experience comes with a soundtrack of birdsong and the occasional howler monkey call in the distance. It’s all part of the charm!

Taste the Difference, Then See It for Yourself

There’s something deeply satisfying about knowing where your food comes from. At Chan Chich, you’re invited to take that experience one step further. Guests can book our signature farm tour to explore Gallon Jug Farm firsthand. Walk the rows of fresh produce, visit our pasture-raised cattle, and learn about the practices that make our approach to farming both responsible and revolutionary.

After all, in Belize, farm-to-table is a way of life!
