Chan Chich Lodge is located within the Gallon Jug Estate in northwestern Belize, surrounded by the vast tri-national Maya Forest (“La Selva Maya”) — the largest contiguous tropical forest north of the Amazon Basin. Remote, protected, and deeply connected to nature, the journey to Chan Chich is part of what makes the experience so special.
Guests can arrive by scenic ground transfer or domestic charter flight, both of which can be arranged by our team based on your travel preferences and group size. Whether arriving by road through Belize’s countryside or flying over the rainforest canopy, getting here becomes the beginning of the adventure itself.

Ground Transfer (1-way)
Begin your vacation with a tour through the Belizean countryside. We offer ground transfer in a Lodge vehicle from the Belize International Airport (BZE) directly to the property. The trip will take approximately 2.5 hours. The cost is $57 per person, one way.
*Rates are in USD and subject to 12.5% tax.

Charter Flights (1-way)
The quickest and most preferred way to get to the property is to fly into the Gallon Jug airstrip. It is a short 30-minute flight from the Belize International Airport, followed by a 15-minute drive to the Lodge. Please contact the lodge directly to get the most accurate rates.

Charters can be quoted for groups of 8-12 by request.
Rental Car
While it is possible to drive to Chan Chich, you will be passing through private lands, and therefore permit access must be granted in advance. Please note that while we welcome guests to drive to the lodge, private driving on the Gallon Jug/Chan Chich property is not permitted in personal vehicles.
If you have a reservation, your confirmation serves as your entry permit, and vehicle details are not required. Simply present a copy of your Chan Chich Lodge Confirmation Letter—either in print or on your device—at the gate. If you plan to drive and do not have a reservation, please contact the lodge 48 to 24 hours prior to arrival with your vehicle model, color, and plate number so we can notify the gatekeeper in advance..
The car needs to have comprehensive insurance coverage. We also recommend renting a vehicle with 4-wheel drive from National or Enterprise, especially if you are unfamiliar with the roads or in the event of inclement weather.
We suggest the following maps highlighted below to ensure a smooth and easy journey. Google Maps may provide alternative routes, but the roads are not favorable so it’s highly recommended to follow these routes:
If you are coming from the Philip Goldson International Airport, the drive is approximately 2 hours and 30 minutes. You may use this map for your guidance: CHAN CHICH FROM BELIZE INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT.
If you are coming from other parts of Belize, you would drive towards Spanish Lookout, exiting at the roundabout from the Western Highway, past the Iguana Creek Bridge and onto to Iguana Creek Road and then follow this map: CHAN CHICH ROUTE FROM WESTERN BELIZE. From Spanish Lookout, the driving time is about 1 hour and 20 minutes.
